Gustavo and Suraj have obtained the first place on the 2017 3rd Workshop on Noisy User-generated Text (WNUT).This shared task focuses on identifying unusual, previously-unseen entities in the context of emerging discussions. Novel entities and surface forms are problems that many systems struggle with. Take for example the tweet “so.. kktny in 30 mins?” – even human experts find entity kktny hard to detect and resolve. This task evaluates the ability to detect and classify novel, emerging, singleton named entities in noisy text. (See official website). The workshop will take place on the EMNLP conference on September 7, Copenhagen, Denmark.
